Daddy / Daughter Day X
Posted by Webby at February 20, 2010 03:33 PM | Comments (0)Jilly spent the day in Selby with Nanna and Auntie Sam today. As Evelyn in I prepared to go into town this morning, Evelyn turned to me and assured me that we were going to have a lovely day together.
"We're going to have a lovely day, aren't we Daddy, without Mummy 'Shouty-Pants'!"
Evidently Jilly and Evelyn had had raised voices last night! Oh dear.
Boys' Bowness Weekend

Sometime ago, Roger suggested that a group of us 'boys' went for a walking weekend in the Lake District, staying in a colleague's house in Bowness; and this was the weekend of choice (nicely co-inciding with my birthday).
The house was lovely, and Roger had prepared a fantastic curry for the eight of us on our arrival. On Saturday morning we all got up nice and early, and enjoyed a hearty breakfast before beginning an excellent walk prepared by Mr. Harris. Jim's walk took us over Lingmoor and Loughrigg Fells (calling in at The Brittania Inn for a well deserved lunch) and the weather was perfect for walking all day.
After a quick meal of pasta and pesto, we made our way to The Hole Int Wall in Bowness for a few more well deserved pints. The end to a perfect day in the lakes.
My 41st birthday
Posted by Webby at February 4, 2010 11:35 PM | Comments (0)What a lovely day I've had!
Jilly and Evelyn surprised me, this morning, with a delicious breakfast of bacon sandwiches, orange juice and tea.
Evelyn was desperate to begin 'helping me open my cards and presents', as I ate my breakfast, and her enthusiasm was so great that I was forced to abandon my breakfast and open my cards and gifts before she did.
As Jilly and I have been following the Hairy Bikers 'Mum's Know Best' show on Tuesday nights (and I've been downloading all the recipes from the web-site), Jilly has bought me the book of the series; and it's excellent. Appreciating how great a computer geek I am, Jilly scoured my Amazon wish-list and bought me a fantastic (and tiny) Pretec 'Bulletproof' USB flash drive. Remembering that I did art at 'O' and 'A' level (though not very successfully!), Jilly also bought me a lovely set of watercolour paints and brushes. I'm grinning like an idiot as I write about Evelyn buying the DVD of 'Monsters Vs Aliens' for me. She is absolutely desperate to watch it and I, of course, am looking forward to watching it with her. And, very thoughtfully, the Wassocks bought me an excellent plan view of the Wainwright Fells in the Lake District. Gorgeous! I received gifts from many thoughtful friends, but feel a little self-conscious about listing them all on these pages. But I would like to thank all those people who have thought about me on my birthday, sending me lovely gifts.
In the evening, Jilly and I enjoyed an excellent (and very quiet) meal in Leena's Asian Punjabi Restaurant in Lindley. Being Thursday night, the restaurant was very quiet (Jilly and I were one of two couples eating there tonight), but the food and service were excellent, and the couple that own the restaurant were really friendly, and we'd certainly recommend the restaurant to anyone who hasn't already tried it. I'll place a link to the restaurant web-site as soon as the owners have one created. In the meantime, here is a much better review than any I have time to write.
