BIG News
Posted by Webby at November 26, 2008 10:36 PM | Comments (0)THUD...pitter patter pitter patter pitter patter...
As I was watching Heroes (SE03E09!) this evening, my enjoyment was momentarily interrupted by a heavy THUD coming from Evelyn's room. I quickly ran upstairs to discover Evelyn wrapping herself up in her 'quilty'.
"I've fallen out of bed, Daddy!", she told me, sleepily."But it's OK!".
With my help, Evelyn tucked herself back into bed and went straight off to sleep.
Fortunately, I've already downloaded this particular episode of Heroes, so I'll be able to catch up later (PHEW!)
AND...Jily and I have just watched the news on which there was an article about Woolworths and M.F.I. going bust. Woolworth's has gone bust! What's all that about, eh?
Evelyn's first taste of school...dinners!
Posted by Webby at November 17, 2008 10:26 PM | Comments (0)I took Evelyn to her new school this morning, where she spent an hour in her new class before I rejoined her for a lovely school dinner.
Evelyn and I had 'homemade' Chicken Pie, made with delicious chicken breast, creamed potatoes (we'd have called it mash when I was at school!), peas and carrots (you have to take the rough with the smooth sometimes, don't you?) and gravy. And, we each had Chocolate Fudge Pudding and custard for desert (which I couldn't have wrestled from Evelyn had I been insane enough to try). Lunch was Deeeeelish!!
During the hour in her new class, Evelyn drew an excellent picture of herself for Santa, and did some quite brilliant sewing (which seemed to impress her new teacher, Mrs. Woodhouse, immensely). Evelyn was really excited about her visit to her new school, and obviously enjoyed herself. Mrs. Woodhouse seemed lovely, and at least one of Evelyn's friends from 'that new nursery' is in her new class...FANTASTIC!
Evelyn seems quite excited, now, about beginning school in January and can't wait to return. Exciting times, though a little upsetting for at least one (or, more honestly, two) anxious parent(s)!
Visiting Sarah Mabel 'Mini' Pini
Posted by Webby at November 16, 2008 06:58 PM | Comments (0)We drove to Congleton to visit the beaudeeful Pini family today and to meet Sarah Mabel 'Mini' Pini for the very first time.
Julie, Ged and Sarah Mabel all seemed perfectly happy at home together, although Julie did still seem a little tired and still recovering from Sarah Mabel's eventful birth. When we arrived 'Mini' Pini was fast asleep, but she came round before we left and was absolutely beautifully behaved all the time we were there.
Incidentally, I must credit Jilly with first referring to Sarah Mabel as 'Mini' Pini. Fantastically, Sarah Mabel really DOES look like Ged (we've agreed it must be one of evolutions defense techniques to protect newborn children from their grumpy fathers!), making her a mini version of him (like Austin Power's 'Mini-Me'; and 'Mini' and Pini rhyme (well duh!). Quite brilliant Jilly!
Kieran's 17th Birthday
Posted by Webby at November 7, 2008 09:34 PM | Comments (0)It's Kieran's birthday today and, in celebration, Jilly, Evelyn and I took him and Chrissy out for a massive slap up curry supper at the Memsahib. Kieran and 'buff' Chrissy both seemed to enjoy their meal, and then joined their mates for a few birthday drinkies. Fortunately, we learned at Jilly's 40th birthday party, that Kieran is very sensible around alcohol (not sure how long that will last though!?!)
Nanna and Poppy joined us and we all enjoyed what was an excellent meal (as ever); in fact Bernard told me that he thought his meal was better than any he had eaten in Bradford...high praise indeed.
Man About The House?
Posted by Webby at November 6, 2008 09:35 PM | Comments (0)Evelyn announced, today, that she wants to marry Ella, her best friend at that new nursery.
But, as she won't be allowed to marry her at the local parish church, she will probably marry Dominic James Harris after-all.
Funny fickle little monkey!
Baby Ballet and Beautiful Dress
Posted by Webby at November 4, 2008 10:27 PM | Comments (0)That new nursery (as Evelyn still insists on referring to it) has begun a new 'course' of Baby Ballet' and we have enrolled Evelyn on it.
Evelyn showed great interest in Baby Ballet the last time the nursery ran the 'course', but it was run on days that Evelyn didn't attend nursery. As the course is now running on Tuesdays, Jilly and I thought it would be nice for Evie to take part. Evelyn has given Jilly and I demonstrations of how the boys bow during the class, and how girls courtsey...telling us what she was doing as she did it. And she did all this while wearing a beautiful new 'party/christmas/Julie and Ged's Wedding' dress that Jilly bought Evelyn earlier today; she looked so beautiful.
Beautiful New Arrival
Posted by Webby at November 4, 2008 10:26 PM | Comments (0)Julie rang, mere seconds ago, to tell us that she has just given birth to a beautiful baby girl, Sarah Mable, who weighed in at a very respectable 8lbs 3oz. Obviously fearing the possible repercussions of not immediately passing the phone to Jilly (who was in the bath), I...er...immediately passed the phone to Jilly (who remained in the bath).
UPDATED 22:40
Julie told Jilly that she had had to have an emergency Caesarean section as the medical staff believed both she and Sarah were 'in distress'. Mum and baby Sarah Mabel are now both recovering from their ordeal quite nicely. Evidently, much of Sarah's weight may be attributed to her height, as the medical staff told Julie that she is 'very long' (though I haven't got any measurements to report as yet!)
We all wish Julie, Ged and Sarah Mabel all the very best, and send them our love. The only question that remains, now, is when the beautiful family will be able to find the time to receive us as vistors. We hope they'll be ready for our visit at the end of next week. We'll see.
Poo Poo!
Posted by Webby at November 3, 2008 11:23 AM | Comments (0)So...missing Jilly and Evelyn this morning (as I am writing this at work, and as they have spent the morning together at home), I rang Jilly for a quick chat and to see how their morning had been so far.
After a short discussion, Jilly asked Evelyn if she would like to say a quick 'hello' to me before hanging up.
"No", Evelyn said, "Er...I mean yes!". I could hear her in the background.
There was a slight delay, as Jilly passed Evie the phone.
"Poo Poo!", Evie called down the phone, and passed the phone back to Jilly.
Jilly expressed her opinion that that wasn't a very nice thing to say to me. Jilly started saying goodbye, and was about to hang up, when Evie asked to talk to me again, promising that she wouldn't, "...say that rude thing again!".
"OK then", I heard Jilly tell Evelyn, passing her the phone.
"Poo Poo!", Evelyn repeated with fantastic comedic timing.
She has nothing but respect, my girl! But I'm lovin' it!
Halloween Weekend
Posted by Webby at November 1, 2008 04:53 PM | Comments (0)It seems like forever since we were last at Debbie and Kevin's but, this weekend, we visited them for a special Halloween dinner and trip to Monkey Forest.
Once again, Debbie spoiled us with a delicious dinner for which we all dressed in Halloween costume.
This morning, before coming home, we all drove to Monkey Forest in Morning at Monkey Forest in Staffordshire. Evelyn was loving the fact that the monkey's were free to walk amongst the visitors. She was never remotely afraid of the monkeys, unlike her mum who was crept up upon by the 'alpha male' (whose name I can't remember at the moment...let's just call him KING JULIAN!)
Desperate to see Julie and Ged before the arrival of Mini-Pini, we visited Julie and Ged before heading home. They were both fine, but Julie seems more than ready for junior's arrival.
