More comedic gold...er...NOT!

I can't think where she gets it from...

Apparently, this morning, as Jilly was walking down the stairs to join Evelyn in the living room, Evelyn started her ascent of the stairs below Jilly. As she approached Jilly, Evelyn 'barged' into her mum's legs exclaiming,

"Get out of my way, or I'm going to shit my pants!"

Obviously shocked, but also trying, desperately, not laugh, Jilly asked Evelyn where on Earth she could had learned an expression like that.

"Who says that, Evelyn?", Jilly asked.

"Daddy does!", was Evie's [unlikely] reply.

Clearly, we're going to have to do something about our use of inappropriate language around Evie.

There is some good news, however. Evelyn has managed another two nights [Saturday and Sunday] without shitting or pissing ...er...um...poohing or weeing in bed [which was especially welcome news, last night, as Evelyn spent the night with us as she's full of cold again, and had a great deal of trouble breathing throughout the night until, that is, she coughed up a huge ball of lung batter at 05:30 this morning, exclaiming, "Ah! I can do [go] to sleep now!"]

Our precious liddle princess!

Our Special Liddle Girl

After two or three weeks of practically dry nights' sleep, Evelyn went to bed, last night, without her pull-ups on and Jilly and I are delighted to report that Evelyn stayed completely dry throughout the whole night, and into the morning. FANTASTIC!

As Evelyn's feet seem to be growing, along with the rest of her, at an alarming rate, Jilly and I decided that Evie needs some new shoes. Having discussed her show requirements with Charlotte at her new nursery, Evelyn has decided that she needs some "dart [dark] red" shoes, so Jilly and I took Evelyn into town, this morning, for some new shoes.

It didn't take Evelyn long to choose her favourite pair and we were soon leaving the shoe shop with Evelyn proudly exhibiting her shoes by staggering in front of her push chair, holding the legs of her trousers pulled up to just above her knees. Crazy Girl!

We also bought Evelyn some new nitters [knickers] today as, like her shoes, she seems to be growing out of those too. How could we ever have guessed that, having arrived home with her new nitters, Evelyn would demand to unpack them all [all fourteen pairs], lay them all out carefully on the living room floor, displaying them for the world to see, and then continue to carry them around with her for the rest of the day.

By the time it came to Evelyn going to bed, Jilly and I had hoped that Evelyn would have become tired of them but, oh no! Thrilled by the Disney Princesses on one pack of her nitters, Evelyn was determined that all her nitters had to be laid out on her bed and even made reference to how she was going to have to, "...move this nitter...it's in the wrong place!", before finally releasing them as she fell to sleep.

Of course, then I was reminded that Jilly used to sleep in the new shoes she was bought so it's clear where that particular peculiarity comes from, can't we, Jilly?

Mother's / Mothers' Day

Evelyn woke bright and early this morning, as has become the norm, so Evie and I got up at 06:30 and played a few game/watched some DeeVees in the living room until it was time to take Mummy her breakfast in bed comprising of the highest quality 'breakfast in a tin' on toast [typically, I'd failed to prepare sufficiently, and forgotten to buy the component parts of the continental breakfast I wanted to treat Jilly to].

We all enjoyed our breakfast and showed our appreciation of the food in a way I'm sure many people do. Evelyn, announcing that she was going to poop, climbed onto my legs, and let rip, giggling as she did. Where did she learn behavior like that, then, eh?

Jilly and EvelynSo, as a special treat for Jilly and Evelyn; Jilly, Evelyn and I went to Whitby for the afternoon, today, in the year's first visit to the coast. Kieran didn't come with as he spent the weekend with his dad helping him to celebrate his forthcoming fortieth birthday.

We made good time on the way there, arriving at 11:30 and, determined to enjoy the healthiest of British meals while in Whitby, we ordered fish and chips at one of the many Fish and Chip restaurants there.

After lunch, we had a lovely walk on the beach, spoiled [only slightly] by an [admittedly expected] downpour. Walking along the beach, Evelyn and Jilly collected loads of pebbles and made a series of sandcastles which Evelyn delighted in kicking down as soon as they were built. Although I was a little miserable about the constant rain, it failed to dampen Jilly and Evelyn's spirits...they just loved being at the seaside.
