Nana Gee's birthday

Posted by Webby at April 20, 2006 09:47 PM | Comments (0)

With a little tuition from mummy this morning, Evelyn successfully wished Nanna Gee a "Happeee Bir-day"...HUZZAH!

And, happy birthday to Nanna Gee!

Liddle 'lovee' beaudee

Soon after we'd successfully put Evelyn to bed this evening, Jilly was at the bottom of the stairs when she heard Evelyn talking to herself in bed [when the liddle monkey should have been asleep!]

"Evie, lovee, lovee, Daddy",
"Evie, lovee, lovee, Mummy",
"Evie, lovee, lovee, Tee-tee"
"Evie, lovee, lovee, Dom",
"Evie, lovee, lovee, Jim",
"Evie, lovee, lovee, Henney",
"Evie, lovee, lovee, Nanny",
"Evie, lovee, lovee, Poppy".

Evie went through just about all the lovee-lovees she knows before finally falling asleep and snorking away.

And...earlier today, Evelyn successfully described where the Duffy [a.k.a., 'The Gruffalo'] lives. Evelyn refers, with great concentration and determination, to the 'deeeep dart wood'. Every word is carefully pronounced [though she still can't pronounce the 'ka' sound], and she is obviously very pleased with herself on completing the sentence.

Easter Bank Holiday Weekend

The population of Gingatopia had a full packed weekend, this bank holiday, seeing loads of our chums...

Good Friday - 14 April 2006
We haven't seen the Judges for an age, and as we didn't see them around my birthday, Ashley invited us over the York for a belated birthday buffet. As a special treat, Ashley prepared prawn vol-au-vents especially for me. She's a special liddle scottish beaudee!

Saturday - 15 April 2006
Deb and Kev rescued our sorry asses today by visiting Gingatopia and helping Jilly and I to install a new kitchen sink unit. As ever, Deb and Kev were brilliant, and we now have an excellent [and thoroughly well constructed] kitchen sink unit...er..."that isn't moldy or SHIT!", Jilly says!

Sunday - 16th April 2006
Kev and Deb helped to complete the installation of the kitchen sink, before going home and then, in an attempt to have a comparatively quiet day, Nanna Gee and Poppy joined us for an Eggscellent Easter Sunday dinner.

Jilly began to feel ill with the same bug Evie had.

Monday - 17 April 2006
Easter EggsWe all joined Jim, Henney and Dom in a trip to the annual 'Fountain's Abbey Egg Roll' at...er...Fountains Abbey, today. To quote Evie, it "Peed It!" all the way to Fountain's Abbey but the sun came out as we arrived, and the rest of the day was beautiful. The actual roll was completely maniacal, full of absolutely insane children running around like loonies. Remarkably, there was very little egg sabotage going on; I saw only one incident of [very clearly] intentional egg squishage as the kids charged down the hill!

Devious liddle monkey

During the day, yesterday, Evelyn asked Jilly for some sweets and when Jilly told her that she couldn't have any, as she was about to have her lunch, Evelyn became a little upset.

"I sad", she said, "I sad!"
When Jilly asked her why she was sad, Evelyn replied...
"Er...tummy!"

Obviously, over the last couple of days, Evelyn has learned that she gets super-special attention when she complains about her 'grumpy tummy'. The liddle monkey...

Juice...tea...juice...tea...

Fantastically, Evelyn put in a full interrupted night's sleep last night and, although she woke at 06:40 with me, she woke in fine fettle, demanding to go "'stairs" [down stairs], and wanting tea and/or juice. Jilly and I have both breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Unfortunately for Jilly, this meant that she had to get up with Evie, instead of enjoying a quiet lie in.

I left the two of them watching "Hi-5"...they were lovin' it!

The sweetest smellling...er...vomit (II)

Evie slept in our bed with me last night [as Jilly needed to catch up on her sleep in Kieran's bottom bunk] and, apart from waking three or four times with apparent discomfort in her tummy, the restless liddle monkey wriggled around the bed IN HER SLEEP all night! Even more encouragingly, when she awoke [at 06:00] Evelyn began demanding juice and tea...HUZZAH!

I left Evie and Jilly together in bed this morning, and took advantage of the early start by coming in to work early and updating the blog. Hopefully, through-out the day, I will be able to speak to Jilly to confirm the Evie is over the worst of it.

Our thoughts are with Helen, too, as she appears to have been suffering with the same "grumpy tummy"!

The sweetest smellling...er...vomit

Our beaudeeful baby girl kept Jilly and I [but, more especially, Jilly] awake most of the night, last night, with what Evelyn repeatedly referred to as a "grumpy tummy".

The poor liddle darling started complaining about being "sore" in the early evening, but we couldn't decide what was wrong with her. Jilly spent three hours with Evelyn, in the living room, in the small hours, as Evie's crying/screaming was going to wake the whole house [Kieran had a friend, Chris, staying over last night, with it being the half-term holidays], and I was due to get up for work at 06:45!

At around 05:00 Jilly and Evelyn came back to our bed and they both managed to go back to sleep.

During the day, today, Jilly rang me at work to give me an update on Evie's condition. The poor liddle beaudee has been sick four times, after telling Jilly, "mouth sore"! Evie hasn't been sick since she was a tiny baby, feeding on milk alone. Jilly said that it broke her heart for Evie to apologise for being sick, and it did mine too.

As for the sweetest smellling vomit? Evelyn has eaten, and drunk, almost nothing today...nothing, that is, except for yogurt and tangerines. And I've just seen the jogurt and tangerines myself, to prove it. I was holding Evelyn before putting her to bed when she started crying and telling me "mouth...sore" immediately before throwing up all over my shirt. Is it a little too bizarre that Evelyn's vomit was so sweet smelling [it reminded me of eating Ski Manderin yogurt as a child], that the experience was almost pleasant? I think I need help!

So that I can sleep tonight, and as Jilly is off work all week, Jilly as offered to sleep in Evie's room with her...we're both terrified that Evie will be sick in her sleep!

Yet another unpleasant first...

Posted by Webby at April 1, 2006 09:39 PM | Comments (0)

So that Jilly and I could decorate the hall, stairs and landing, Jim and Helen Wassocks Harris offered to have Evelyn over at there house this evening. Obviously, Evelyn was really excited about staying with Dom, and very excited about sharing a bath...er...with Jim, that is! Not surprisingly, Jim was a little less enthusiastic!

The reason that tonight was another unpleasant first wasn't so much the fact that Evelyn stayed over with the Wassocks, but that tonight was the first night that Jilly and I have ever spent the night in this house without Evelyn. In the past, on the rare occasion that we have been apart from Evelyn, we have always been away from home, while Evelyn has stayed with the wassocks or grandparents.

All night, Jilly and I had to remind ourselves that we needn't be so quiet around the house. It was very difficult being without the liddle Evemeister, and we both indulged in a bit of a sniff of her liddle gro-bag and quilt before settling down to sleep!
