More teeth - Left Lower Second Molar - Tooth #15

Baby TeethFor a week or so now, Jilly and I have been convinced that Evelyn is about show signs of Chicken Pox that she must have contracted from the Domster, particularly as she has been very bad tempered lately, and hasn't been sleeping very well.

We've now discovered that the [probable] cause [though we're still not ruling out 'the pox' entirely!] of Evie's recent unhappiness is the appearance of tooth number 15, her lower left second molar. The liddle kitten's face is glowing bright red constantly, and she has begun asking of "My Scene" [medicine, or Calpol!] when she wakes up in the middle of the night! Jilly and I are becoming worried that Evie is becoming a Calpol junky, so we are hoping that Evie can weather the molar storm...we'll see!

Things Literary...

The Gruffalo - everyone should own a copy! The Gruffalo
And, having mentioned Evelyn's potential literary genius, I've remembered that I have planned to mention, for some time now, what Evelyn's previous favourite book is. It has been, perhaps, Evelyn's favourite book, but it is also one of my favourite books too...er...in much the same way the Disney's Hercules is one of my favourite films. If ever Evelyn and I start reading the book, and Evelyn begins to lose interest, I am always desperate to finish reading it. A little sad, I know!

That sound, in the distance? That of the flood gates of ridicule bursting open under the pressure of Jim's impending derision...

Budding Literary Genius

'Words!'Evelyn's 'reading' is definitely coming along gloriously now. This evening, Jilly sat with Evelyn pointing at all the pictures/words in what is rapidly becoming Evelyn's favourite bed-time read, The Usbourne Book of Everyday Words, as Evelyn 'read' aloud what each picture was. She was fantastic, and only a couple of words were pronounced poorly.

Clearly, spending far too much time with Dominic James Harris [Junior Wassock], Evelyn has begun approaching the rest of the family, with hand stretched out for a 'hand-shake', exclaiming "'Teef", or "Awright Chief".

And...at Swimbabes yesterday, and for the first time, Evelyn was allowed to jump into the pool and sink in the water, before making her own way to the surface. Jilly was, not surprisingly, very nervous, as she would normally 'catch' Evelyn when she jumped into the pool, supporting Evelyn as she submerged. Today, though, Evelyn jumped straight into the pool and sank a couple of feet before her newly developed swimming skills [and natural bouyancy {ahem!}] brought her to the surface. After that, Evelyn swam to the side of the pool, held on [as trained] and then climbed out of the pool before turning round and jumping back in again, shouting, "More, more, more!"

Well done Evelyn, and well done Mummy for being so brave.

Unfortunately, Helen and Dom weren't in the pool today, as Dom is a little 'poxy'. That's right, he has the Chicken Pox. But, Helen, generous as ever, still offered to take Jilly and Evelyn to the session. Thanks Helen.

My 37th Birthday

Whitby by moonlightFor Christmas this year...er...last year, Jim and Helen [Wassocks!] paid for the hire of a lovely big house in Fylingthorpe for the weekend of my birthday [more coincidence, I think, than actually for my birthday, eh Jim?]. As well as the Wassocks, we were joined by Andrew, Justine and Eloise and had an excellent relaxing weekend filled with country ambles, beer and Whitby fish and chips. What more could a birthday boy want?

Once again, I'd like to thank Jim and Helen for the excellent Christmas present...er...and my birthday pressy!

Pink Bear for Eleanor RoseI've just received the following text message on my phone from Jim Bowden...

"Eleanor Rose was born at 02.27 Thursday morning. She weighed 8lb 10oz. Shelagh and Elly are doing fine; they are asleep right now. I'll talk to you soon. Jim".

FANTASTIC NEWS! Jilly, Kieran, Evelyn and I send all our love and best wishes, and can't wait to meet to meet Huddersfield's newest inhabitant.

OUTRAGEOUS!

Jim and Helen [Wassocks!] have been generous enough to share, with the population of Gingatopia, a basket of the tastiest organically grown vegetables [and an impressive and varied selection we get, too!]. A little less tasteful, though, was this carrot. Make up you own mind...

OUTRAGEOUS!
