Halloween

Posted by Webby at October 31, 2005 10:03 PM | Comments (0)

Evie Pumpkin and a pumpkinDeb and Kev visited Gingatopia today to help us celebrate Halloween. Deb created a beautiful pumpkin outfit for Evelyn that, after a bit of a struggle, Evie seemed quite pleased to wear. At least, Evie was either pleased to wear it, or simply too distracted by Jilly’s pumpkin lantern to complain any longer.

Ever increasing vocabulary...cont'd

So, for some time now, Evelyn has been explaining that she wants to "sit dare" [there], pointing to a chair/the back of the settee/her high chair but, this morning, she gave me the instruction, "Daddy, sit dare!", pointing to the floor at the side of where she was sitting. That practically constitutes a whole sentance!

And, when asked who her best friend was, the other day, Evelyn replied, "Domnic" [she missed out the middle 'i', but there was no mistaking that she meant Dominic]!

Evelyn consistantly asks for "juice" now, instead of pointing at a drink and demanding, "DAT!". Evelyn also asks [though not in the least politely] for "tea" when Jilly and I have a drink.

And...this amuses me...particularly when Mummy is in the bath...er...though not exclusively(!)...Evelyn refers to "Boobies". Highly amusing!

Footballing Legends

And...things are [though probably temporarily!] looking fairly rosy on the Football front too. For a bloke who knows very little about the game, I don't think my Fantasy League stats are looking too shabby and, as for Huddersfield Town AFC...come on you Terrieeerrrs!

Pah! Bloody fair weather fans...I dunno!

Alright, alright! The lead is one-point at the top of each table, but a lead is a lead, am I wrong?

Potatoshop Course - week 4

Posted by Webby at October 18, 2005 10:15 PM | Comments (2)

Before I go to week 5 tomorrow, I thought I should finally get around to showing some of the product of last week's lesson. I'm especially pleased with the 'old ladies' photo! To get the most dramatic effect, I recommend that the viewer looks at the slideshow of all the images.

Blackpool Illuminations...er...for the children, of course!

ritaaaahh_bang.jpgSo, as a special treat for the children (ahem!), Jilly and I took Kieran and Evelyn to Blackpool to see the illuminations, and get some seaside Fish 'n' Chips. Evelyn loved all the bright lights, and both Kieran and Evelyn enjoyed the F&C's. Of course, in Blackpool, dodging the trams as we were, we couldn't resist re-enacting the famous 'Coronation Street' scene! Those poor tram drivers must be absolutely sick of it by now!

We had a lovely day, the weather was beautiful, and it only took us 75 minutes to get there...that's only 15 minutes more than it's been taking me to get to work on a morning...marvellous!

More teeth - Upper Incisors - Teeth #13 and #14

Posted by Webby at October 11, 2005 08:21 PM | Comments (0)

Baby TeethDuring the, now inevitable, screaming session which accompanies Evelyn's teeth being brushed, Jilly and I noticed that both of Evelyn's upper cuspids, or incisors have broken through the skin!

Ever increasing vocabulary

Evelyn's use of words is definitely developing. This is, now, no doubt that Evelyn not only understands nouns, but is capable of making requests...er...giving demands. Jilly and I were eating some of her birthday chocolates yesterday. Jilly and I would share a little of each of our chocolates with Evelyn and, when each little bit was finished, Evelyn would demand [in absolutely no uncertain terms!] MORE! MORE! MORE! Fantastic! Definitely Evelyn's favourite new addition to her vocabulary, she uses it at every available [and appropriate] moment, i.e., when she's being fed. Dat's my girl!

Evelyn refers, constantly, to shoes [particularly mine] and insists upon stepping into them and trying [unsuccessfully!] to walk around the room.

And, delightfully, Evelyn has begun saying Mummeeeeee and Daddeeeee, quite inexplicably with the long 'ee' sound at the end of the word! It's new, and we like it!

Potatoshop Course - week 3

Posted by Webby at October 5, 2005 09:17 PM | Comments (3)

In Jim's absence [the Wassocks are on holiday...er...again!] Jo and I attended the Photoshop course without Jim this week, and we learned MASSES!

For anyone saddoes that are interested, here is a link to my Mr. Vegetableheadshop picture that I created today, using Photoshop tools. The image before it is the result of last weeks lesson, and the following image is Mr. Vegetableheadshop himself. I intend to add pictures of all the images I create throughout the course and, hopefully, readers will witness an improvement as Jim, Jo and I progress through the course.

Jilly's 37th Birthday (Mk 2) - Her actual birthday

Posted by Webby at October 3, 2005 09:41 PM | Comments (1)

Happy Birthday Beaudee!

The population of Gingatopia went out for dinner tonight in celebration of Jilly's birthday, and very nice the occasion was too. Jilly had few birthday presents to open in the evening as we got up especially early this morning so that Jilly could open them before I went to work.

Rather disturbingly, Jilly did get one thing for her birthday that she could have done without...Deb and Kev gave Jilly Gonorrhea [Neisseria gonorrhoeae] for her birthday. Personally, I would have preferred Syphilis!

Jilly's 37th b'day (Mk 1)

It was very difficult for both of us, but a walk in the park for Evelyn, but Jilly and left Evie with Helen, Jim and Dom last night so that we could visit Julie and Ged for the first leg of Jilly's birthday celebrations.

We enjoyed an excellent meal in an asian restaurant followed by a few very excellent beers in Le Trappiste, in Altrincham. The we retired to J&G's flat so that Ged and I could let the ladies win a rather beered up game of something or other. To us lads, winning isn't important, neither was the name of the game we were so resoundingly beaten at...D'Oh!
