Mr Positive...er...not!
Posted by Webby at August 31, 2005 07:07 PM | Comments (0)I have had, today, only my third job interview in nearly fourteen years and, like the two before, I think this one went moderately poorly. Just call me Mr. Positive!
The three members of the interview panel were really sound, and tried their best to help me relax, but I seemed to fluff almost every question I was asked. As I left, Megan - my potential new manager - assured me that the panel anticipated letting the hopeful candidates know of their decision within the next day or so...fingers crossed then!

The population of Gingatopia [less Kieran, who is still in Florida...kept that quiet, didn't he?] spent the weekend at Deb and Kev's to celebrate Debbie's forty-first birthday on Saturday 27th...and a delight it was too! Anyone who knows Deb and Kev will know that it is Kev's birthday on the 17th of August, also, so we were pleased to help celebrate that too.
On the way home from Deb and Kev's, Jilly, Evie and I made a slight detour north-west and called in on Julie and Ged [after Julie has moved in to Ged's [lovely] flat] somewhere between Altrincham and Hale. Miraculously, we managed to drive - almost to the door - without a navigational incident. Ged's flat is lovely [even without Julie's recent feminine touches], and Jilly and I have been invited over to celebrate her birthday at the beginning of October...HUZZAH!
On arriving home from Julie and Ged's, I took a very relieved and excited Jilly to collect Kieran from his dad's having returned from Florida last night! She was highly giddy!
Seven years and counting...

Today is our seventh wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, it's been marred by my unnaturally great ability to fail to do absolutely anything constructive around the house during my current spell of unemployment...
Probably nuff said actually...
Happy Birthday...

Jilly and I had the honour of helping Ashley to pull off a quite exquisite deceit yesterday!
Thursday [the 18th] was John Judge's fortieth birthday and, in order to celebrate it - amongst other lovely things - Ashley organised to hire The Picturedrome [reputedly England's oldest cinema!], in Holmfirth, for a private showing of Star Wars [episode IV].
Ashley, Jilly and I managed to convince John that he was coming to Huddersfield [and Holmfirth] to attend the beer festival, and got him into the cinema without him suspecting a thing. The film was great, the company was great, and the party was a fantastic success!
As it is our anniversary tomorrow, Ashley was super thoughtful and bought Jilly and I a lovely bottle of champers and a pair of lovely wine glasses to celebrate in the hotel last night. Thank you Ash!
Last night was pure genius, Ashley...I hope John realises how lucky he is!
Florida-tastic
Posted by Webby at August 14, 2005 08:06 PM | Comments (0)Kieran left for a fortnight in glorious Florida this morning. In the run up to last night [when Jilly, Evie and I dropped him off at his dad's house], he's hardly mentioned the trip, or the four-star accommodation he'll be staying in, so his departure seemed to creep up on us out of the blue...er...NOT!.
It goes without saying that we'll all miss him terribly [especially his mum, who still hasn't stopped sobbing], and we all hope that he is able to keep up with 'goings on' at home via the 24/7 Internet access that he apparently has in the suite of rooms he and his dad are occupying! Of course this means that apart from keeping up with Gingatopia, he will also be able to keep up with the football and cricket at http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport
Have an XLNT time Kieran. We all miss you already!
End of an Era?

Today is, officially, my last day of employment with Arqiva. So it's [hopefully] a small portion of sausage for me, before I find a new job! I'll be ringing the ES [or whatever they call themselves these day] to make a new claim to JSA tomorrow...deep joy!
She's Craaaaazzzzzeeeeee!
Posted by Webby at August 8, 2005 08:44 PM | Comments (0)Hopefully, before too long, I'll find the time to add entries about our lovely day out/picnic with Grandma Jean and Grandpa Ben and, more recently, our family holiday in Whitby.
Until then, I thought visitors to Gingatopia might be interested in a few photographs of our very own resident Crazy Frog.
And, incidentally, when she isn't wearing trousers or dungerees, Evelyn is now able to climb onto the sofa entirely on her own! Fantastic, until you realise that she is still not aware how much it hurts to fall of it...D'Oh!
Only a Prawn in Whitby?

The population of Gingatopia returned home today, after a glorious week in sunny Whitby.
Joined, as we were, on Sunday by the Judge clan, our holiday began well and continued beautifully. We arrived in Whitby, having driven over the thoroughly miserable North Yorkshire Moors, to be greeted by a most horrible storm [typical!].
Fortunately, the Judges - who drove up from York for the day - packed the Sun up with them, bringing it to Whitby. We spent the morning in Whitby, visiting the Abbey ruins, and then retired to the cottage we had hired for a spot of lunch and a game of Monopoly. Ashley would never forgive me if I didn't record here, in the Gingatopian Chronicles, that she absolutely embarrassed Kieran during the game. She kicked him in de ass...oh yes! Sadly, photographic incompetance struck - once again - and I failed to take a single photograph of the Judges' visit...numpty!
Then, later in the week, we drove to Filey to meet Nana Gee, Aunt Sam, Lily, Jude and Hebe who were also holidaying on the North East coast. It was a lovely sunny day, so most of it was spent on the beach.
And, of course, it wasn't a single prawn in Whitby, it was several portions...and I ate them all to myself as Jilly and Kieran refuse to eat the "fishy snot"... mad, they are!
I'll post some photo's of the holiday to Flickr when I get the time
