MMR

Posted by Webby at July 21, 2005 09:55 PM | Comments (0)

Evelyn had her MMR injection today. I was off work, and Jilly went to work a little late so we both went along to give the liddle tyke some moral support. Before the practice nurse gave Evelyn her injection, the doctor examined Evie, asking Jilly and I about her development. Overall, the doctor was very pleased with Evelyn indeed.

At one year, and eleven weeks, Evelyn is 76cm tall [in the 75th percentile] and weighs in at a very respectable 10.8kg or 1 stone 9¾ pounds [in the 76th percentile]. Of course, the doctor added, she wasn't surprised at Evelyn's growth, with Jilly and I both being so tall. Eh?

As we told the doctor, while Evelyn's spoken vocabulary isn't that extensive yet, Evie does understand many words and instructions particularly, I'm pleased to say, the instruction, "Hit Kieran on the head!"...highly amusing!

Waterbabies

http://www.waterbabies.co.ukAs Jilly and Evelyn had completed Evie's Swimbabes classes, and the new Swimbabes courses are only run on Thursdays [when Jilly is at work], Jilly has started taking Evelyn to Waterbabies [http://www.waterbabies.co.uk] along with Helen and Dom.

Today has seen Evie's third class and, already, Waterbabies is proving more exciting for Jilly and Evie. Today, the mums were asked to take baby to the bottom of the pool, where they were to sit and then release the baby to the waiting instructor on the surface. It will come as no surprise to anyone who knows Jilly, that sitting on the bottom was particularly difficult. But manage, she did.

Later in the class, the instructor threw [and I mean threw] the babies from the side of the pool into the water in front of mum. Apparently, Evie and Dom were both lovin' this...the liddle beaudees!

Interpol and The Engineers :: Manchester Apollo

Founding Wassock, Jim, and I went to see Interpol, supported by The Engineers last night at the Manchester Apollo...and bloody good they were too! Fortunately [and I wouldn't normally advocate this], Jim and I were sat in the Circle, above the main audience. I say fortunately, as it was absolutely roasting hot in the building, and cramming in amongst all the bouncing fans on the floor would have been courting potential disaster.

We had an excellent time, both bands were great [so good, in fact that I will probably buy their stuff!], and we even had the opportunity to consume junk food on the way to the gig...er...but don't tell them indoors!

New Words

According to Jilly, Evelyn has a new word. She's been spending a lot of time with Kieran [Bib-bib] in his room lately, and has begun pointing at Kieran's "Playster"...his Playstation! Oh, my word!

Find the Puppy

Evelyn has a new favourite book [on loan from Babies for Books], called Find the Puppy. Evelyn loves having the book read to her and is able to point to the puppy - on every page - when asked, "Where's the puppy"...FANTASTIC! Evie's also loving Whatever Next! by Jill Murphy, the book is about Baby Bear who wants to go to the moon and so searches around the house until he finds a rocket (a cardboard box), a space-helmet (a colander) and space-boots (his wellies). That's right, I'm lovin' it too!
