Left AND Right Lower First Molars - Teeth #11 and #12
Posted by Webby at June 30, 2005 07:36 PM | Comments (0)
Evelyn's eleventh tooth has definitely made an appearance. Her left lower first molar has broken through the skin and seems to be being hotly pursued by her right lower first molar, and then both front lower canines [or cuspids]...no wonder she's been so unhappy recently!
Sunny Dales weekend

The population of Gingatopia joined the Osbourne/Bradbury brigade and a bunch of Wassocks for the years first camping trip this weekend. Not only was it our first camping weekend, but it was Evelyn's [and, I believe, Eloise's] first ever weekend in a tent.
At the Akebar Farm campsite, between Bedale and Leyburn in Wensleydale, the weather was fine, though a little wet on Friday night, and very cold on Saturday night, but all the children were brilliantly well-behaved, seemed to enjoy the great outdoors, and made very little noise during the night...thank goodness!
After a lazy start on Saturday morning, Jim had organised for the whole party to visit The Forbidden Corner, just down the road from the camp-site. A little old for the babies, Kieran and the all the adults certainly enjoyed it.
On Sunday, in the blistering heat, we went on a short train journey from the very nearby Finghall train station to Redmire and, from there, we walked to Castle Bolton; a lovely little village...er...with a castle in it...er...called Castle Bolton. After our walk to the castle, we stopped at The Bolton Arms for a thoroughly refreshing pint of Cider shandy...oh yes!, those West Country Wassocks know how to live...cheers Jo!
Along with the Wassocks, I took many photographs of the weekend, and hope to be able to combine them with the Wassocks' photo's a little later! Once again, the population of Gingatopia would like to offer Jim its warmest thanks for organising such an excellent weekend...hip hip, HUZZAH!
Update - 06 July 2005, 10:01
Helen informs that, "It was Dom's first camping weekend too! He hasn't been before (and he hasn't got your trangia!)". What's this about a Trangia, Helen? Don't know what ya talkin' abart mate!
Left AND Right Upper First Molars - Teeth #9 and #10
Posted by Webby at June 14, 2005 08:14 PM | Comments (0)
...and now, Jilly and I have just seen, for the first time, that Evelyn appears to have developed some BIG teeth!
While Jilly was dressing Evelyn last night after her bath, she noticed, toward the back of Evelyn's screaming mouth, that Evelyn's left and right upper first molars...BOTH OF 'EM! have broken through her gums...and obviously did some time ago, judging by how much of the teeth are visible. There's no wonder Evelyn has been making such a fuss these last few weeks.
Like Jilly, I was expecting Evelyn's canine teeth to show first. Obviously, I wasn't paying close enough attention to the graphics that I've posted on my own blog...monkey!
More [earlier] photo's of Evelyn

After more than eighteen months, some very early photographs of Evelyn have finally re-emerged.
Would it surprise anyone to hear that these scans had been put, "...somewhere VERY SAFE...", by mummy! As you can see, I've managed to scan them, and have added them to my 'Favourites of Evelyn' set on the Flickr.com site.
Catching up...again - Tooth #7 and #8
Posted by Webby at June 12, 2005 09:22 PM | Comments (1)
Over a week ago, now, Jilly and I realised that the teeth that have been troubling Evelyn so much recently, have finally broken through the skin.
Evelyn's lower lateral incisors have finally made an appearance ...er... both of them. I have no excuses ...er... but stuff going on at work [see Friday, 10 June 2005 - 20:17, below] has been on my mind recently and, consequently, I haven't been paying as much attention as I might to Gingatopia. I'm so embarrassed...
And further updates...
Recently, when giving Evelyn her bath, Jilly and I realised that Evelyn will wash our faces on request. Using her SPONG [we know, that's how we say sponge in Gingatopia...we're ZANY, we are (ahem!)], Evelyn will wash each of our faces in turn! Evelyn is also now able to identify her belly [no surprise there, then], and when asked to tonight, Evelyn washed her tummy with soapy spong! Jilly and I were both boo-ing! Are we normal?
HUZZAH!

Scanned Images

For the readers amusement, I've finally managed to scan and upload a series of old black and white photographs that my mum gave to me eons ago for the Gingatopia site. The photograph to the left is a favourite of mine, and I think it's one that especially looks like Evelyn...the poor baby!
Now that I've finally managed to find the time to scan and upload them, I can let my mum have them back.
It does seem a little strange adding old photographs of my father, but I thought that they may give people that know me a few clues as to why I am the devastatingly handsome young man...er...ahem! that they all know and love...er...ahem!
I'll post as many embarrassing old pictures of Jilly as I can, as soon as I can get my hands on them and scan them to the PC.
Spoon-tastic
Posted by Webby at June 6, 2005 07:22 PM | Comments (0)Evelyn has successfully mastered the art of feeding herself with her spoon(s). Evie has begun demanding two spoons to eat her dinner, but seems to favour the one in her right hand when eating. She is able, consistently, to get food from her bowl to her mouth without spilling it down her bib...dat's my girl!
Of course, she still gets a little bored with the effort of using her spoon, and often reverts to the use of her liddle piddies...she is so cute!
Father's Day #2
Posted by Webby at June 3, 2005 10:03 PM | Comments (0)I have no excuses, it's only because I am so very slack that I have, until now, not got round to telling the world what my beaudeeful child and quasi-adopted child bought me for Father's Day.
Kieran has always bought his evil ginger step-father a present on Father's Day [a sweetener, I've always thought!], but this year, he bought me an especially beautiful dark wood picture frame. It seemed perfectly appropriate that I put a picture of the two liddle beaudees in it, so here is the picture I put in the frame [very kindly reproduced by Grandpa Ben on his new photo-printer] and very beautiful it looks, too!
Evelyn bought me a beautiful new book* [that she clearly enjoys me reading to her]. My Daddy's A Giant is a beautiful book about the way a child [admittedly a boy!] sees his dad...er...who is a giant...er...and who is a ginga! Evie also bought my a My Dad mug and mini paperback back which we'll enjoy together!
*Of course, I understand that Mummy bought the book and mug on Evelyn's behalf...do you think I'm some sort of half-wit, or summink?
Hello Nana Jean
Posted by Webby at June 2, 2005 08:35 PM | Comments (0)As Jilly was [unusually] off work yesterday, so she was able to spend the day with Evelyn, today was the first day that Nana Jean [a.k.a. NanaJee, pronounced in an Indian-stylee!] began her new position as Evelyn's primary carer-nana-in-chief.
Throughout the day, Evelyn and NanaJee enjoyed walks around the neighbourhood and two quiet naps. NanaJee also reports that Evelyn appears to have regained her healthy appetite, eating all that has been put before her during the day. A fantastic day was had by the pair of the liddle beaudees.
And, to cap it all...NanaJee has been quoted saying that this is the best job she's ever had. As if there could ever have been any doubt!
