Cannon Hall

Posted by Webby at July 30, 2004 07:57 PM | Comments (2)

Jilly organised a vast migration from Mount (and the surrounding areas) today, by getting Helen and Dom; Andrew, Justine and Eloise; and Evie and I together for a trip to Cannon Hall.

Team photo!Ah! Look at Evie's liddle beadies! Some liddle piglets
Again we were really lucky with the weather and enjoyed a picnic [where are the designated picnic ares in this country?] on the lawn in front of the house before visiting the farm where Justine was gagging to see the donkeys for some reason. Perhaps Andrew can enlighten us?

On Emley Moor bah't 'at!

I took Jilly and Evie into work with me today to meet everyone while I collected a book that I'd had delivered to work. Typically, Evelyn exhibited her tremendous capacity for screaming. So much so, that I felt it prudent to leave before we were escorted from the building by 'da management' for being a noise nuisance.

Liddle NEXT Beaudee!Very generously, my friends at work had a collection for Evie when she was born and Jilly has, only recently, had the opportunity to spend the NEXT gift voucher that I was given for Evie. Fantastically, NEXT was having a sale when Jilly went into town, so this is one of three outfits that Jilly was able to buy with the gift token. I'll add photo's of the other outfits as she wears them.

Thanks again to everyone at Emley Moor for their kind thoughts...

Liddle Faddy

Jilly took Evelyn to the baby clinic today for her baby MOT and Evie now weighs in at a very respectable 5.6Kg, that's 12lbs 5½oz in old money...the beaudeeful liddle faddy!

A(nother) Grand Day Out...

Posted by Webby at July 27, 2004 07:27 PM | Comments (0)

Jilly, Nana Bananas and I took advantage of the nice weather again today, and took Evelyn out to Bronte Country for the day.

Designated Picnic Area...er...NOT!Jilly, very thoughtfully, prepared a lovely picnic which we duly enjoyed in a field obviously used, intermittently, to keep sheep ['nuff said, I think!] Is it really too much to ask, to sit, comfortably, in a designated picnic area to eat ones lunch? I don't think so!

Evie LOVIN' Howarth!Clearly, Evie loved the roller coaster history ride which is Howarth...it was difficult for Jean, Jilly and I to contain her excitement...ahem!

A Grand Day Out...

In order to give Evie her first experience of 'the arts', Jilly and I took Evelyn to Bretton Sculpture Park today. The weather was great [not to sunny for the sensitive Ginga types in the party] but, unfortunately, I forgot my camera...d'oh!

As I result of my forgetting my camera, I also failed to get photographic evidence of Evie's [and Jilly's] first visit to my Uncle Peter [always to be pronounced in a Reeves and Mortimer stylee] and Aunt Joan's in Scissett. Inevitably, Evie was more than a little traumatised on meeting Peter, but seeing Dawn, Kylie and Jake for the first time soon brought the smile back to her face...

It was really hard leaving Jilly and Evie [Kieran was still in Florida] to go on a short walking holiday in the Lakes...though not nearly as hard as actually accompanying the group on the walk.

Getting old [and still massively obese] I wimped out of the walk and went back to the campsite for an overdue shower, and then drove into Patterdale to meet the boys.

For anyone that is interested, photo's of the walk can be found here [cheers, Jim!] though, needless-to-say, there are no images of me here...so why you'd bother is anyone's guess!

Sadly, perhaps, this is one of the few photographs that I came away from the trip with...a photo of Jim, Roger and Kev preparing for a hearty breakfast before the drive home this morning.

As I sit here now, in my almost entirely sedentary position, I promise that I will not accompany the boys [or my beaudeeful family] on another walking trip until I've got down to a more manageable size and weight!

Faster than a speedin' bullet!

Beaudeeful EvieI'm sure everyone will be staggered to hear that the population of Gingatopia has finally dragged itself into the twentieth century and had broadband installed...HUZZAH! This means I am now able to update the site at more than ten times the previous speed; and that means more pictures of my beaudeeful Evie for you dial-up pence...oh yes!

Wheel-chair friendly

Evie is LOVIN' it!After taking Evelyn for her first visit to Mitchell's Camping Centre this morning (meeting the Thornton's for the SALE insanity!), Jilly and I thought we would take advantage of the good weather and took Evelyn for her first 'wheel-chair friendly' walk at Scammonden Dam!

The liddle beaudee behaved perfectly in her carrier and slept for practically the whole hour we were out walking.

The three of us were home for about an hour when Grandma and Grandad Hargreaves arrived for a quick visit before they jet off to Las Vegas. Evelyn was a lttle grumpy - which we put down to her being so very tired from her marathon walk earlier in the day!

Florida Expeditionary Force

Things are going to be a little quieter in Gingatopia for the next two weeks as Kieran has flown off to Florida for his jollies.

Inevitably, there will be a gloomy atmosphere around the place here, as Jilly is always a little miserable when Kieran Prince Binky goes away...I'm just hoping that Evie's constant food requirements and stinky nappies will keep her mind off Kieran not being here. And...the jammy liddle bugger was upgraded - on his flight out - to First Class!

Only to be encouraged...

It can only be a matter of time, now, before Jilly and I can leave big brother Kieran with his beautiful liddle sister confident with the knowledge that he can bottle feed, wind and change her...FANTASTIC!

And to think, Kieran actually volunteered to do this!

Liddle Smiling PrincessAs I was at work today, Jilly took charge of my digital camera and took this beautiful picture of our little smiling princess relaxing in her cot. This morning saw the 14th consecutive night that Evelyn has slept through [for 'slept through', read, went to sleep at about 23:00 and didn't start crying for her first breakfast until she saw her mum at about 07:30...TREEEEMENDOUS!].

This image available at your local AthenaAnd...I took this photograph - perhaps a week ago - of Evelyn's little hand in mine, and it's so sweet that I had to publish it to the site. Clearly, I must have seen an image like this before [not that I remember!] as Jim tells me that it's very Athena

Basking in Glorious Sunshine...er...not!

Posted by Webby at July 10, 2004 08:43 PM | Comments (0)

A dogged determination to enjoy ourselves in the face of overwhelming meteorological gloom led Jilly and I to stoke up the BBQ today - as we had planned some weeks ago - for dinner with the Harrises. Typically, instead of the glorious sunshine we had hoped for, July delivered a more usual British Summer's day...d'oh!

Jilly moves in when the cooking is done!Gggrr...Rugby, Football, Beer, Women...Jim, Helen and Dominic arrived just as the BBQ reached cooking temperature, so we cooked the food and crammed it down our necks before the heavens opened.

Dressed for 'Three Coats Hill'Helen and Dominic braved the elements, the liddle troopers...

Liddle Princess Speck and Trifle Zebra...while Evelyn - very sensibly - preferred to stay inside in the company of Trifle Zebra and Harris Lion (just out of shot).

...And in contrast to the last image...

She's a liddle smiling beaudeeKieran came into our bedroom this morning before going to school, and took this lovely photo of Evie. As she usually stops smiling as soon as someone (usually me!) points a camera at her, photo's of Evelyn smiling are very few and far between!

Sugar and spice (is Ginger a spice?), and all things nice?

Sugar and spice, and all things nice? One of the first photo's that Kieran took of Evie and her dad with his new camera [many thanks, again, to Chris (and Bernie)]...just to prove that she's not always the angel she usually appears.

And, it's a great picture of me too!
Manipulated (rather clumsily) in Photoshop...and here is the same photo after a bit of manipulation in Photoshop. Clearly, I need to buy a tutorial book but I think that - even if it's rather clumsily done - I've managed to improve the image a little. Whaddayu think?

More Visitors

As I slaved away on a 12-hour shift at work today; Jilly, Kieran and Evelyn entertained The Fisher Family. Sam, Jim, Lily and Jude were given leave to enter Gingatopia on visitors' visas. Dinner was consumed in my abscence (including an apple crumble...ahem!) and then Jilly showed Jim 'up my hole'...thereby discovering the current state of untidyness in my loft! Needless-to-say, I'll be tidying up shortly!

Sam and Jim brought Evie some lovely liddle clothes and a beautiful Miffy cuddly toy! It's highly cute!

Quite bizarrely, Kieran failed to mark the occasion of the Fishers' visit by taking loads of photo's - with his new camera - for the blog. The liddle misery, what was he thinking about?

In 'The Sticks'

Evelyn was treated to more new surroundings tonight as the entire population of Gingatopia went on an expedition to farest Slaithwaite [to be pronounced 'Slawit'] for dinner with Chris and Bernie, and to inspect Chris' new loft...which is fantastic! Unfortunately, Evelyn seemed very unsettled to start with, and 'wahhhhed' the place down for a good half hour as we tried to sit for dinner.

Food of the GodsBernie had prepared a glorious 'brown meat pie' consisting of steak, fat mushrooms and lashings of Guiness (of course!) [photograph to follow, Jim!] which Jilly and I managed to eat as Evie eventually settled down to a well deserved sleep.

Look, it's David...Bloody...Bailey!One member of the Gingatopian party was especially honoured tonight as Chris presented Kieran with a ridiculously generous gift; a Canon A60 Powershot digital camera.

Kieran was thrilled with Chris and Bernie's gift, and it has proved impossible to get the camera away from him since. When I've fixed the PC in his room, we'll be able to upload one or two of the excellent photo's that Kieran has taken to date...so watch this space!
