"Evelyn and Jonah, sitting in a tree...

K...I...S...S...I...N...G...!" ...P...L...A...Y...I...N...G [nicely]!"

It's been on the cards for some time now; Evelyn has been talking about nothing else since Jilly agreed to having Jonah come over for dinner after school.

Jonah and Evelyn had a lively time, and played very nicely together in the back garden. Sadly, though, Evelyn became a little over excited; so much so that Jilly is reluctant to have Evelyn invite any more friends over for dinner. Oh dear!

Steph, Helen, Alex and Charlie visit

Evie and AlexSteph, Helen, Alex and the new baby Charlie visited Gingatopia today...and much fun was had by all.

Jilly says that it was very difficult wrestling Charlie from Evelyn was she was given the responsibility of holding him.

Evelyn and Alex played nicely together (as is evident in the photographs), but a little too much time was spent in Evelyn's room for my liking!

Two Peas in a Pod...again

Monday 18th September 2006

As Jim and Henney have planned a weekend away, Dominic came to stay in Gingatopia overnight yesterday. Jo had the pleasure of Dominic's company over the weekend, and then brought Dom to Gingatopia on Monday morning.

Two peas in a podAccording to Jilly, Dom and Evelyn played beautifully all day. Together they helped Jilly make dinner of fish fingers [made, from scratch, using fish fillets, milk [I'd used all the eggs the day before...D'Oh!] and breadcrumbs. Dom told Jilly, on at least one occasion, "I don't like this Jollay (Jilly)", when coating the fish.

During the day, Jilly took Dom and Evelyn to the park in Dom's new double buggy as she had organised to meet Kieran at the orthodontists near the park. Evidentially, Dominic 'drove' the buggy all the way into town, while Evelyn stroked Dominic's hair sat, as she was, behind him in the buggy. During their play in the park, Dominic was heard to tell Evelyn to,

"Get down from that big slide. It's very dangerous!"

Evelyn turned her back to Dominic, shook her bottom at him, and duly slid down the slide with her legs in the air! That's our girl!

Only after the mile and a half walk to the park did Jilly realise how great the combined weight of both the toddlers was going to be [it is apparent, when they stand together, that Evelyn and Dominic are now about the same height, and Jilly reports that they weigh almost exactly the same too].

Dominic and Evelyn had a lovely splashy bath together before Jilly and I put them to bed. Near exhaustion, Dominic and Evelyn were straight to sleep and our night was only interrupted once [at 05:05 hurrrrummppphhhh!] when Dominic awoke and, in unfamiliar surroundings, was a little upset.

Tuesday 19th September 2006

Sadly, today was a very different story. Apparently, Dominic and Evelyn have done nothing but fight all day. They've fought over toys, they've fought over mummy's/Jilly's knee. At one point, Evelyn was forced to hit Dominic in the face, but she soon got her comeuppance when, reaching across Dominic's face, 'scragger' Harris bit her [he left quite a mark actually, that was still visible when I returned home!].

In the morning, Steph and Alex [Evelyn's other man] came to visit in the hope that the odds of two adults to three children would improve the day. The five four of them enjoyed strawberries [Dominic played with his fruit, rolling it around in his hands claiming that the strawberry was, "just like a ball"].

When Steph asked Dominic, "Have you got a ball Dominic?", Dominic looked at Steph and replied, with great determination,

"No, Steph, it's a strawberry!".

According to Alex, Jilly was, "Cheeky, all day!". This is, apparently, significant, as, according to Alex, only people who are naughty ever do anything, "all day"!

After Alex and Steph had gone, Evelyn, feeling a little weary, decided that it was time for her afternoon nap.

"I'm tired." she said. "Take me to bed now, please...without Dom...on my own!

Oh dear!

Two peas...In preparation for the arrival of the newest addition to the Wassocks household, Jim and Henney have been decorating Dominic's new bedroom in anticipation of his moving to accommodate Wassock jnr. #2. Consequently, Dominic spent the best part of the weekend with us.

In the brilliant sunshine, Evelyn and Dom spent most of the day in the sand pit/paddling pool. A minor initial inconvenience was the fact that Jim and Henney hadn't packed Dom with any swimmers and, aware of the obvious dangers of exposing Dominic's delicate young skin to the glare of the sun, Jilly and I were forced to compromise, and put him in one of Evelyn's sunsuits. Interestingly, Dom didn't seem to mind the colour...

Dom Stays

Dom stayed over last night, as Jim and Helen gallivanted off to a gig in Leeds [I think!] and, unlike the last time he stayed, he seemed perfectly happy all night, even when the big ginger monster was in the room. Jilly and Helen had the good sense to remember the ‘Wallace and Gromit’ DVD, so that kept both the liddle beaudees amused until bedtime.
This particular photo was taken this morning, soon after the two liddle beaudees woke, very quietly, at around 08:15, and is too irresistable to leave off the blog. I've decided, Dom can stop again!

Jean, Ben and Greggoire visit

Jean, Ben and Greggoire visitAs Evie's grandparents - Ben and Jean - will be on Gran Canaria as we celebrate the first anniversary of Evelyn's birth, Jean, Ben and Greggoire came to visit today, before they jet off in the morning. The sun shone so, inevitably, we were drawn outside; Ben and Jean anticipating the heat of their forthcoming holidays, and Greggoire desperately trying to remember the heat of his homeland...er...boo, hoo!

Grumpy Daddy Lion

Oh, I forgot... Auntie Katie, Cousin Hebe and John visited Evelyn and Jilly recently, as I worked, and left the Evelyn with the gift of a beautiful new cuddly toy. A cuddly toy which was soon to become known as Grumpy Daddy Lion. I believe the naming had something to do with the ginger 'mane', the liddle beady eyes, the grumpy mouth and the vast pot belly!

Many thanks to Kate, John and Hebe!

Welcoming a beaudeeful liddle Ginga to Gingatopia

Andrew and Ellie came round to visit Jilly and Evelyn today... er... and then Andrew left Ellie with Jilly and Evie for something or other [I dunno!]. According to Jilly, Evelyn and Ellie seemed to get onEllie reviewing Evie's latest book! like a house on fire...which is nice! Then Kieran arrived home from work to join in the fun! Jilly said that Ellie was a little anxious when she first arrived, but soon settled down to play with Evelyn, being very gentle indeed, when she wasn't taking in a little reading material...the liddle beaudee!

It won't be long before the pair of them are firing off down the pub and swigging alco-pops and bringing boys home....er...NOT!

As I slaved away on a 12-hour shift at work today; Jilly, Kieran and Evelyn entertained The Fisher Family. Sam, Jim, Lily and Jude were given leave to enter Gingatopia on visitors' visas. Dinner was consumed in my abscence (including an apple crumble...ahem!) and then Jilly showed Jim 'up my hole'...thereby discovering the current state of untidyness in my loft! Needless-to-say, I'll be tidying up shortly!

Sam and Jim brought Evie some lovely liddle clothes and a beautiful Miffy cuddly toy! It's highly cute!

Quite bizarrely, Kieran failed to mark the occasion of the Fishers' visit by taking loads of photo's - with his new camera - for the blog. The liddle misery, what was he thinking about?
