A Terrible Nights Sleep...

That's right, and we haven't even gone to bed yet!

As I may have mentioned earlier this week, Evelyn appears to be teething again as she is constantly drooling, and alot more than has become the norm. Our suspicions that Evie is teething have been confirmed tonight as Jilly and I have just spent almost half an hour trying to console Evelyn as she screamed at the top of her tiny lungs whilst - apparently - continuing to sleep. Our poor liddle princess was absolutely inconsolable as Jilly and I took it in turns to hold her. Eventually, Evie fell back to sleep in her mummy's arms.

According to Tasha at the nursery, while Evelyn as had a very playful day at the nursery, she was, "...a little bit sick after tea". Our liddle beaudee isn't very well, though she's asleep at the moment :)}

Unfortunately, I think Jilly and I can safely anticipate an interrupted nights sleep but, hey!, fingers crossed!

On a lighter note - and I'll let this be an end to the subject:
I'd just like to add the review of Evelyn's day at the nursery, very kindly provided by Tasha:

"Evie has played in the ball pool. She has also looked at lots of books. Evie has also took a few steps at nursery today. She has played with the walker. Evie was a little bit sick after tea."

As Evie has been feeling under the weather throughout the evening, there has been little opportunity for further walking.

Update - 27 April 2005, 19:32

Exactly as the computer predicted, Evelyn had Jilly and I up at 00:00 and 05:05 this morning. Obviously in some discomfort and very tearful, she didn't - I'm pleased to report - scream the house down. As it seemed the only way that we'd get her back to sleep, we brought Evie back to our bed, where she slept soundly until Jilly woke her at 07:45.

TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK, TICK TOCK...

The Long MarchA well deserved restAs we've already discussed, it's NOT a competiton. But, if it were a competition, Evelyn's latest 'walking' development would suggest that she was about to be declared,

'The Baby Who Walked First...Er...Between Dominic and Evelyn, That Is'.

Evelyn successfully 'walked' one step from the sofa to her pig-pen...er... play pen this morning. Of course, Jilly and I cheered but, in reality, Evie did little more then fall toward the pig-pen, and remain standing. Are we asking too much of the liddle tiger?

Of course, we can't include other beaudeeful babies - such as Eloise Bradbury, Sarah Judge and Imogen Drury - in the chase for this much sought after title, because:

  • these beaudees are each considerably older than Dom and Evelyn, and
  • any so-called 'record' that these children may have set for walking earlier than 355 days and 20 hours [or just under 51 weeks old], can only be attributed to heresay and/or barely credible parental rumour.

[Quite literally] One small step...

Jilly, Evie, Kieran and I drove to Leeds to visit Jilly's grandparents today. While we were there, Evelyn stood up [unaided] and took one small step towards her mum, before falling to the floor.

Until Evelyn takes two [unsupported] steps, Jilly and I are reluctant to describe what Evie does as walking, though it can only be a matter of time now.

To beat Mst Harris' record of walking at one year and one week, Evelyn must walk within the next 18 days...er...not that it's a competition, or owt!

And they're off...

Jilly certainly appeared to have 'jumped the gun' a little the other day.

Well...now, it's official. Evie IS DEFINITELY crawling, and she's crawling everywhere. Thanks to the Judges, we have the necessary baby gates to prevent Evie from getting into the kitchen and hurting herself on the floor. The only problem we have now, is protecting her from herself, and the fire place, and all our lovely books...D'Oh!

I had my camera out at the time, and did manage to get a little video but, typically, Evie stopped crawling as soon as she realised I was recording the event...the little monster!
