Look at the size of the pasties our friends at http://www.wassocks.com brought back from their recent trip to the West Country. We love Jim, Helen and Dominic, we do!

A dogged determination to enjoy ourselves in the face of overwhelming meteorological gloom led Jilly and I to stoke up the BBQ today - as we had planned some weeks ago - for dinner with the Harrises. Typically, instead of the glorious sunshine we had hoped for, July delivered a more usual British Summer's day...d'oh!

Jim, Helen and Dominic arrived just as the BBQ reached cooking temperature, so we cooked the food and crammed it down our necks before the heavens opened.
Helen and Dominic braved the elements, the liddle troopers...
...while Evelyn - very sensibly - preferred to stay inside in the company of Trifle Zebra and Harris Lion (just out of shot).
Evelyn was treated to more new surroundings tonight as the entire population of Gingatopia went on an expedition to farest Slaithwaite [to be pronounced 'Slawit'] for dinner with Chris and Bernie, and to inspect Chris' new loft...which is fantastic! Unfortunately, Evelyn seemed very unsettled to start with, and 'wahhhhed' the place down for a good half hour as we tried to sit for dinner.
Bernie had prepared a glorious 'brown meat pie' consisting of steak, fat mushrooms and lashings of Guiness (of course!) [photograph to follow, Jim!] which Jilly and I managed to eat as Evie eventually settled down to a well deserved sleep.
One member of the Gingatopian party was especially honoured tonight as Chris presented Kieran with a ridiculously generous gift; a Canon A60 Powershot digital camera.
Kieran was thrilled with Chris and Bernie's gift, and it has proved impossible to get the camera away from him since. When I've fixed the PC in his room, we'll be able to upload one or two of the excellent photo's that Kieran has taken to date...so watch this space!
