Helen, Dominic and Tilly came to visit Jilly and Evelyn this morning. According to Jilly, Evelyn and Dominic quickly disappeared to Evelyn's room together with Evelyn's 'baby' (her doll 'baby Lucy').

After a little while, Evie and Dominic returned to the living room with a request of Jillian.

"I'm the Mummy", said Evelyn. "And, I'm the Daddy", added Dominic. Evelyn asked Jilly, "Will you look after the baby, Nanna?"

When Jilly and Helen asked Evelyn and Dominic where they were going.

"We're going to a concert", said Evelyn.

"No", Dominic corrected Evelyn, "We're going to the theatre!"

Bloody Luvvie!

And, it's dawned on me that I am at a slight disadvantage when it comes to the format of Jobley's chart on fatties. As the chart represents the percentage loss of original body weight, I am always going to have to lose more than Jobley each week. Subsequently, I propose a sort of handicap system where...er...Jobley is forced to eat half a dozen cream buns each week. It only seems fair!

Still, given this weeks terrible results, my chart is terrible anyway! Perhaps you can hold on the cream cakes, Jobley!

..."A pound? What's that? I've shit a pound!"

I've been really positive about my attempts to lose weight and get in shape this week (even going so far as to do my cardio-vascular exercises two days on the trot), but somehow, I only appear to have lost 400 g; that's less than 1 lb (and, incidentally, I also appear to have grown half an inch, making my bloody BMI even worse!).

Positive as ever, Jobley has reminded me that even my < 1 lb loss represents the equivalent of my weekly target.

So...this article (Carbon Action 2008) appeared in this month's 'Talk About', the 'News and views from Kirklees Primary Care Trust' leaflet distributed amongst Huddersfield and Calderdale's Primary Care Trusts (or PCTs).

Apparently, the 'Talk About' people will be visiting Jillian at work, shortly, to interview and photograph her in preparation for a more 'in-depth' interview. It's only a matter of time before Fleet Street get wind of the story and we have the paparazzi knocking at our door...

So it's with some relief that I can report that (Great) Grandma Annis is making a fantastic recovery after her recent spell in hospital. She's 'full of beans' and getting around the house brilliantly (with the aid of a frame), and has even managed to get out for a few afternoons.

Jilly, Evelyn and I visited (Great) Grandma and (Great) Grandad, this afternoon, and stayed to prepare dinner for them. After dinner, we all enjoyed a few frames of the current snooker competiton on TV. Jilly and (Great) Grandma were reminiscing about how Jilly, Sam and Kate would always enjoy watching the snooker whenever they visited Grandma and Grandad. It would appear that Evelyn has inherited Jilly's 'love' of the sport, asking if she could , "watch a bit of snooter (sic)!"

As the snooter was being played, and as Evelyn watched, avidly, from her prone position on the floor, one of the players missed a relatively easy shot. Evelyn's immediate comment?

"Oooh! That was a bad miss!"

While Evelyn has, obviously, never seen Mitchell and Webb, she has evidentally heard Jilly and/or I using the expression, and used it frighteningly appropriately here. Jilly and I were astounded, and HIGHLY amused.

So Jilly, Evelyn and I made a special trip into town, this morning, so that I could weigh myself on the Boots weighing machine (just for the sake of consistency). I'm a little disappointed to report that I've only lost 1 Kg (2.2 lbs) this week, making my current weight 133.5 Kg or 21st 0lb.

Of course, that's better than putting the weight on, so I'll stop my whinging.

So, Jobley's chart can be found here, and my chart here. It's only week #2, and I'm already slipping behind. Clearly, it's time to 'take off the gloves...'.

Having decided that it is practical trying to weigh myself every month at the GPs, I've decided to weigh myself at Boots. I am proud to say that I appear, certainly, to have lost 3 Kg (or 6.6 lbs) in the last week, now weighing in at 134.5 Kg or 21 st 2 lbs.

Hopefully, this new improved measurement will shortly be reflected on the charts on Jobley's site. There's a chart for the pair of us, depicting our weight loss as a percentage of our original body weight(s), and a chart just for recording my actual weight loss (hopefully).

Jilly and I took Evelyn to the GPs today, for her pre-school injections. Obviously anticipating my being a 'big soft Mary', Evelyn asked that I stayed in the waiting room. Comparing Evelyn to the pre-schoolers she immunises at work, Jilly said that Evelyn was "exceptional, she was fantastically brave, she was great...fantastic!".

Jilly was very proud to report that Evelyn didn't so much as whimper; she sat on Jilly's knee, began counting to ten and just said 'ouch' when it was done. Our brave liddle beaudee.

In (yet another) attempt to lose some weight I'm about to join Jobley on a new-year diet. During my visit to the GPs, this morning, I checked my weight...I now weigh 137.5 Kg / 21 stone 8 lbs.

Jilly long since came to the conclusion that I have a type of body dysmorphia, an eating disorder, but that, rather than believe I am massively overweight, and repulsive to the opposite sex, Jilly thinks that I believe I am, in fact, much slimmer than I appear, and that I need to eat to build myself up.

I'm more than a little depressed.

Update <07 January 2008> :: to further increase my feeling of depression, I have found an old graph that I made in March, last year, that records that I weighed 127 Kg. Clearly, I've put 10.Kg (or a stone and a half!) in the last nine months.
